Particle Cache Ignores Emitter Rates

I'd appreciate any advice I can get. I've got a scene with 20 curve flows that were essentially duplicated from one source and spread out across a mesh. I've created a cascade effect where they start and stop emitting sequentially. When I cache the particles they all start and stop at the same time. The cache seems to be ignoring the animated emit rate. Any ideas?

I have no problems doing what you seem to be doing. To create the offsets I animated the emission rates on the flow nodes, Flow#.emissionRate, that worked fine and cached out as expected.

well, assuming the duplication was at the heart of the problem, I went back and did a couple of things. I point constrained the emitters and particles to their respective flow curves (since they were all at 0,0,0 in the world). and I noticed the particles and emitters had identical names so I gave each a distinct name. One of those things worked, I suspect the name changing.
