hi guys. i have some problems with particles and fluids and maybe someone can help. so: i'm using a 3d fluid container to drive some particles. all good when i simulate, but when i try to cache the particles maya freezes. i left it once for about 30 minutes and it did not get past frame 1. when i play the simulation or i playblast it it takes about 30 to 45 seconds per frame. i tryed to cache the fluid and it worked, everything was fine, i was able to play forward and backwards, but i had the huge surprise to save the scene, open it the next day and find out that the particles were no longer driven by the fluid. the fluid cache was fine, no problem there, just the particles refused to move. another problem is with the look of the particles. i wrote creation expressions for the mass and the lifespanPP but they do not get evaluated at frame 1 so the ramps for color and opacity do not work. i set the particle type to numeric/lifespanPP and i got INF as the result. if anyone has any ideea how to make this work right, please help.
not sure, seems like the scene is crazy. what I'd do is save the fluid as a preset (top of the attr editor) save the particle emitter as a preset emitter the same way, and rebuild the scene from scratch. Sucks but it's the best way to get it all working if you've not figured out another way by now.
