Passing Parameters To -fo Node

I need to pass fps and codec parameters while rendering as QT Movie, I need to save the QT at 30fps using the PhotoJPEG codec via command line, I didn't find in the manuals how to do this.

I allready tried coping a FileOut from the GUI into a text editor and I copied a long string where I thought the codec specification may be defind, the string included a ; caracter, I passed that string the shake -fo node in the command line and I got an error indicating that the string I passed was not a command I stripped the ; but I got the same error.

Can someone help me?

Hmmm... I remember this being discussed some time ago. Did you try to do a search in this forum?

Anyway, the only workaround I know is to change the default settings for Quicktime in Shake.
Simply create a .h file in your include/startup directory with the following text:

The long string here should be replaced with the one that holds your codec definition.

Now if you -fo to Quicktime from the command line, this will be the default codec.

That does it for the codec I want, but i still have the fps issue wich is still at 24fps, not 30.

Not sure if it would work from the gui, but i think you can put a filout in a macro if you use it from command line.
Then what about passing directly the correct codec and fps string (it's an all in one string) to a fileout node in your macro such as :
curve string codecFpsString = "[enter the magic number here]"
result = FileOut(In, fileOutName,
"Auto", "name it as you like", "codec description", 0, codecFpsString, 0, 44100, 16);
return result;
No need to change the defaults this way..

dumb me, I solved the issue using the -fps 30 flag.

About putting a FileOut into a macro and running it from the command line, I've allready tried that, it renders into a QT file, but the problem is that it opens a Flipbook that if you want to process a bunch of files you have to manually close for the next item in the batch to begin render.

did you try to send the command output to /dev/null using the redirection > to get rid of the flipbook?
