Also- I know you have to provide an excellent portfolio to gain entrance to gnomon. HOW GOOD?? It would be great if a past student could provide me with a link to their entrance portfolio. Id really appreciate that. Ive been told im good and ive received top marks for all my artworks in the past... but that was school... and i have no idea what the different-country-talent thing is about. Is it possible that there are a limited number of places for international students- meaning that those that do get in have to be even better than average??!! thats how it works in Australia...
Thanks heaps. all replies appreciated.
I'm an professional artist, but not 3d - at my age, which is twice yours, I don't anticipate my interest to go beyond hobbyist/enthusiast. I have two useful things to say, though. I had lunch in the ILM cafeteria a while back, and I was surrounded by 20-somethings to 30-somethings. Some 40-50 somethings, too, but they struck me as TDs, LDs and the like. Even though my friend told me George likes em young (actually, the word "cheap" was used, too), talent is talent. Second, it's obvious - look at all the online galleries around, and ask yourself if your work is BETTER than that. Many of them are not working at a high profile place - some aren't working in the field at all. One place I like for having an animation gallery (movies) is http://www.3dmaxer.dk/animation.asp (I just love "Rocketpants" and "The Adventures of Nurm and Bg"). Again, is your work BETTER than that? If not, then we all better keep at it.....
