Photoshop Deletes Alpha Channels

After rendering straight out of Maya a 32-bit exr.

When I load it into Photoshop CS4, it deletes the alpha channel. This happens with other formats as well, how do I make Photoshop keep alpha channels when opening the image?

it depends on the format you are saving your files when you render in Maya.

You may also render the alpha channel in separated file and bring it in PSD.

Its actually a setting in photoshop, theres a different version fo the binary available. What it does is it automatically trues to load the alpha as layers transparency, but this may not be deseired in all cases.

Its adobe trying to ease your workload, and failing spectaculary.
