Please help me out!

Im a highschool student right now and cannot find any highend 3d animation packages under $1000 then i found XSI
academic for 500 bucks! Are highschool students eligble for this discount??? Also is XSI as buggy as most maya users say or is this just a whole bunch of 3d gossip of "my software is better than yours"???
thnx

In the past, student versions were for people currently enrolled in an accredited school. However, like everything else in the world, things change, so it's worth looking into.

Is XSI buggy?
XSI is the next generation of Softimiage 3D. Softimage 3D is a very mature stable product, but XSI is a total re-write, so there is going to be missing features for a few months and there will always be bugs in version 1.0 of anything. However, XSI ships with the latest version of Softimage 3D, so there is still a mature product to work with. Then in a few months XSI should pretty much have most of the features that 3D has in addition to the new features that are just in XSI.

I have found XSI to be very stable and easy to work with. With very few features ported back in, I could do all my work in XSI. For a student like yourself, it has pretty much anything you would need to learn with.

If you are trying to get your feet wet, there is a product called Animation Master (www.hash.com)its only about $150 US and is a good product to start with. There are plenty of professionals that prefer it.

Good Luck,
Urp

HASH is a GREAT product , very powerful for the money...but as far as I know the student program is for students only in aproved schools , but contact your local reseller , sometimes they can work out a deal.
