I am thinking of switching to XSI and was wondering if I will be able to use my SI 3D plugins with XSI.

You can continue to use SI3D with XSI, but you cannot reuse the plugin binaries. If you wish to use a SI3D plugin in XSI it will have to be recompiled with the XSI SDK or rewritten as an XSI script.
The good news is that many features requiring plugins in SI3D are now native tools in XSI, so you may want to play with XSI before deciding whether you need your plugins, and if so, how they should be rebuilt (script vs. recompiled).
