Polyappend Error

I want to use MEL to append a face to a triangular hole in polygonal mesh. The command I am using is :
polyAppend -ch on -s 1 -tx 1 -ed 483 -ed 486 -ed 495 polySurface1.

MEL returns the error: "Can't perform polyAppend1 on disabled selection"

I can manually append the face with keyboard, mouse and Append tool, so I know it can be done.

Thanks for any help!

hmmm don't know what maya is nagging about..

in my case it works with MEL.
I mean.. I just created a cube, deleted the upper face and

CODE
polyAppend -ch 0 -tx 1 -ed 6 -ed 1 pCubeShape1;
creates a new triangle at the hole.

btw: It creates the triangle no matter what I select. The docs say that it only works with one object selected... hmmm.. shrug

CODE
polyAppend -ch 0 -tx 1 -ed 6 -ed 1 pCubeShape1;
creates a new triangle

alias commands in general asume the last stated string or array o f strings is the selection for the command and it superceeds any other selection.

But yeah thats slightly undocumentted.

Do you know when this occurs? ::

error: "Can't perform polyAppend1 on disabled selection"

yes when the commands help says so!

help polyAppend;

reslylts in:

Synopsis: polyAppend [flags] [String...]

Wich basicaly is a allmost certain indication of it. Anything help says automaticaly superceeds whats in the manual. Because its done forem the actual added flags instead of someones say so.

hmm.. ok

what about cimmereo? Is your question answered?
