Hi All,
I'm building some web models, and need to remove some of the excess polys from the inside of my parts (I'm using data that has orginally come from Pro Engineer - therefore its full of unnecessary polys) My question is:how can I select _just what I see_ i.e just the inside polys of a hollow shape (imagine looking at the inside of a cup, and wanting to remove only the inside surfaces.) I can't work out if the "selection constraints" tools is right for the job...
thankschris
you're not talking about backface culling are you??? I'm not entirely sure what you mean.
there is a plugin on byran ewert's web page to select what a viewport "sees". www.ewertb.com
I guess you mean the problem is that if you put the camera inside the object, and do a marquee selection, you select the polys on the outside of the object too (which you want to keep).
Change your display options to stop showing backfaces and you should be fine.
Failing that, there's always the Paint Selection tool--should be very handy for this sort of thing.
Good luck!
