For any given polygon face, I need to get the vertex normal at each vertex of that polygon.
I know that you can use polyNormalPerVertex to get all normals at a vertex, but how do they relate to a given face?
Or is there another way?

I suppose you could first get a iterator for all polygons of a given surface:
MItMeshPolygon()
For each polygon you can then use MItMeshPolygon:: normalIndex() retrieve the normal index for the specified vertex. This index will refer to an element in the normal array returned by MFnMesh::getNormals().
Since you mentioned, polyNormalPerVertex, I'll assume you want to do this through MEL.
Try using polyInfo.
polyInfo -faceNormals $node;

Thanks a lot, just what I was looking for.
