Polypaint, Retopo & Texture Issue

Hi.

I have a simple model I want to reTopologize but before I do that I want to create a polypaint template to guide the reTopo.

How can I paint a simple design on the raw model that may be turned on or off during reTopo? Remembering that reTopo is a zsphere-based operation.
