Problem Re-sizing A Skinned Character

hi, i'm trying to muddle my way through maya, i think i've got the basics down but I'm still coming up against regular probelms. My current one is trying to scale down a character i have rigged and skinned - it seems to just distort and bend when i try. If anybody could help me out here i'd be very gratefull. i've did extensive searching for tutorials with the answer but i haven't had much luck. thanks.

Well usualy this is the cause of inexperienced rigging. ONe thing thet people shoudl understadn is NOT to put all transformers in one basket. What you do is you make 2 separate dag hiearchies and group them under one root and then MAKE the second hirarchy NOT inherit transforms.

Usually simple characters scale easily by juts groupping the BONE struycture and scaling this node up (but be sure NOT To include the skin).

Not undrestanding the the cause and what double trasformation entails, is allmost 100% surely going to ensure you get one! Usualy on first trie but allmost certainly after a few.

BTW a double transform may look wierd if you have many afecting clusters/affectors.

Anyway ability to scale is something you THINK of first in the pipe not last because it MAY actualy mean you need to rerig the entire thing.

Hmm, what do you learn form that? Donning loincloths? Or scaling mountains, maybe thats why he had so many tears

Edity: Okay so you have lot of time to think so you must thinkof something that makes your stay on the mountain sensefull. If not then your truly enlightened (thatis when you discover its a waste of time and do it anyway)

Oh by the way do you guys know why so many early scientists came form sweeden. Alot of sons of abolished noobility that had too much leisure time on their hands, much money no commitment. The kind of entusiasm you cannot buy is THE BEST KIND. Some of them will succeed.
