Problem With Maya 7 Install, Licenses

I'm not sure what I'm missing but on my install of Maya 7 but I ran into a problem during the activation part. I have my serial key and the activation key but when starting Maya 7 it keeps asking to install a license on my computer.

Here's the a screen shot of the actual message.

"Maya 7.0 could not be started because there are no appropriate licenses installed on this computer. Please request and install your license using the options below."

I do have this version installed on my notebook and now my workstation but am planning to uninstall this on my notebook. Not sure it this is causing any problems? I'm going to call Alias in the morning to see if they can help but would like to hear from other users.

Any ideas?

In the mail, where Alias sent you your key, there should be a phone number. It brings you to a call center, where they can connect you to the right people for relicensing the software. But I guess it

I just talked to Alias tech support. They said the activation key is only good for one computer so it will not work with another computer. I made the mistake of using my previous activation key instead of creating a new one.

In order to remove your current license you will needed to fill out a relocation form located on Alias' site.

After this is submitted you can request a new activation key. But you are required by the agreement form to uninstall the previous version, since there isn't an automatic uninstaller.

I'll try this once I get home tonight. I kept thinking I had lost the key somehow. lol

BTW they also said that the USB dongle is available but does not apply to education versions of the software, which I am using.

i think maxs price is its main problem... its too pirecey of a tool thats potenttialy worse than its rivals that are cheaper.

Hey guys,

Just an update. I seemed to got a Alias tech to update my serial key with my new computer's network card address but ran into another problem. Looks like there is no way to authencate without getting the error that my serial key is already registered with another computer. D'oh!

I'm getting a little bit upset by this locking down and will call them again to finally get this sorted. Starting to think maybe buying the yearly 3d Max license wasn't that bad afterall. lol

the licencing policy of max is as bitchy as mayas. Just more expensive. Prettymuch all highend software has this high lic policy.

It pretty satndard that they are node locked. And thats juste exactly what node3locked means its ONLY allowed to run on one machine, and then the switching is extremely painfull.

THe non student version artleast allows you to use a dongle thet transfeer wherevber it is OR a full floating licence wih allows you to use your lic wherever you are aslong as you ca n chek the floating lic server. (wich means its mach9ine independent so you can use one at home and one at work no hasstle.)
