Problem with Qmaster rendering segments

Hi.
I just configured a Qmaster cluster with 3 nodes for rendering Shake files and have a very strange problem. It seems to be doing everything OK and outputs the movie file as it should, but when I open it, it contains only the final part of the movie.

I think it is a problem of merging back the segments rendered by each node. Maybe it is a very basic configuration option I'm missing, but it is the first cluster I ever configured.

Does anyone knows why this could be happening? I'm using Shake 3.5 and Qmaster 1.2 (just updated from software update).

Thanks.

rendering to Quicktime? I'd try a file sequence first, make sure that works, and then translate that into a Quicktime if you need.

Thanks a lot, problem solved. It seems that Quicktime format is not supported for segmented renders.

What image format would you recommend me? I tried TIFF, but it produces huge files. Which would produce good quality images and not so big files?

PNG, diskspace cant realy be of a issue to anyomne running something like shake tough! I mean even if your operational disk ends you msut have someplace to dump the raw data after the fact anyway-

maybe yall can help me, I have the same problem but even if I use .TIFF, .JPG, or .IFF it still only renders out one frame.

Please help...

Thanks

is your file out setup with seq. frame extension?

Upgrade if you can.

Shake 4 and Qmaster 2 automatically render the first pass of quicktime movies as iffs now, then a final pass to make a movie. Which is fantastic.

Otherwise, as everyone else says, render iffs or whatever you want, then do a second render to make a movie. If you do it from the command line and your drives are fast, it will rarely take more than 10 or 20 seconds. OK a minute if it is HD.

just do

shake yourfilename.#.iff -t 1-256(Your timerange) -fo yourmovie.mov

If you go through the customising shake part of the manual and set your default quicktime compressor to your standard of choice, say 10 bit unconmpressed, then your movies always come out ready to use.

And newbies, do the tutorials and learn to always put a # or @@@@@@ in your fileout names, you're playing with the big toys now.

Thats GREAT. finally someone who knows what they're talking about also.

I've had success with all parts of Qmaster except... trying to use .h script to load render controls for Qmaster on client machines. followed commands from manual and console returns this message

error: sys.useRenderQueue, line 1: unknown variable Qmaster
Qmaster

any ideas?
thanks in advance
