I have two six sided polygons with matching faces.
I have made instances of the two polygons, and I am now trying to match up the instances to show how the two polygons can fit together (kind of like legos).
I have been using the 3 point snap tool to move and rotate one instance to the other. This has worked reasonably well, until now- I have aligned 3 pairs.
The 4th one just won't work! No matter what order, it won't align correctly. It doesn't make any sense, because they are all instances of the original shapes, and I have aligned 3 other pairs of instances.
I even tried making duplicates, not instances of the original shapes and 3 point snapping them, but that has not worked either.
Is there something wrong with my polygons that these two particular faces won't match up? When I attempt to 3 point snap the two polygons, one moves, but the points I selected aren't matched, or the 3 points match up, but the polygon that moves is reverse from where I want it to be- it rotates inside the other polygon.
I checked my normals for both shapes, they all appear to be facing outward. I don't know what else to do, and I am no maya expert.
Thanks
