Problems With Linux/shake

i have installed shake 4 on red hat interprise. I installed the software by loging into the root and unziping the shake file into the usr directory. i then logout and login as the normal user. i start the software and it opens, and their are long delays when i try to do any thing in shake. does anyone know what the case of this or what i did wrong?

Most likely your video card drivers need updating/installing. I hope for your sake you don't have an ATI card...

i know for a fact its your video driver.
Shake's UI is openGL based so you need a card that does direct opengl rendering (and have the drivers working in linux)

i recommend nvidia cards because they are the easiest to get up and running in linux.

ATI (i've heard) has started putting more work into their setup and drivers and are also becoming easeir to install..
