Hi everyone,
I have few questions about professional color correction. I'm looking to achieve the most professional color correction with minimum resources....
FYI the system I use is a Dual 2ghz XEON, 1GB RAM, 360 GB SCSI, MATROX RT2500, Sony NTSC PVM14M4U.
The computer is fast, no doubt about that.....but the MATROX RT2500 is not really the best I can get ......but let's try to deal with it.
I know we could rent DaVinci systems, or any other professional color correction systems, but budget is our main issue....
The project is 2 commericals shot on Sony 24P-HD (don't know the model yet). It's gonna be broadcasted on 4:3, but we need an HD Master for the client.
I'm planning to do the color correction either using Adobe After effects or Shake, or both based on the complexity of the effects. Or maybe sometimes using Photoshop and batch process.
Each shots will be maximum 58 frames.
The capture to digital format will be done by an HD post-house.
A TGA sequence will be provided to me.
So where to start.
What do I need to achieve the highest level of accuracy for colors?
Vectorscope ? How to set it up with the hardware I own ? Can I run it through my NTSC monitor output or should I go out from my card ?
Waveform ? Do I need one ?
Colorbars ? Macbeth Chart ? What needs to be done on set during shooting ?
What the HD post house has to give me ? Digitized colobars ?
Are the software suggested good enough ?
8bit, 16 bit per channel ?
what else ?

I hope to have raised issues valuable for everyone here.
Any help would be great.
Thanks in advance.
