i have this nice spiral.mel i stored in my scripts folder.
to call it up, i need to type spiral x x x . it uses 3 variables.
now, i want to create a window i call up from my shelf.
the script so far looks like this:
float $ht;
float $radius;
float $numRounds;
string $winName = "wHelix";
if (window -exists $winName)
{
deleteUI $winName;
}
window -title "tom's spiral maker" -wh 400 150 $winName;
columnLayout;
floatSliderGrp -label "height" -field true ("$ht");
floatSliderGrp -label "radius" -field true ("$radius") ;
floatSliderGrp -label "turns" -field true ("$numRounds");
button -label "create" -c "spiral $ht $radius $numRounds" cButt;
showWindow $winName;
the problem is how do i get the value of the floatSliderGrp in the variables $ht $radius $numRounds?
i just used the attrFieldSliderGrp so far, with this i could use -at to put the value in the variable. so what's the trick here?
the spiral.mel looks like this:
global proc string spiral( float $ht, float $radius, float $numRounds )
{
string $cylinder[] = cylinder -ch off -ax 0 1 0 -p 0 0 0 -r 1.0 -hr 1.0;
scale $radius $ht $radius $cylinder[0];
string $cos = curveOnSurface -d 1 -uv 0.0 0.0 -uv 1.0 ($numRounds*8.0) $cylinder[0];
string $duplicatedCrv[] = duplicateCurve -ch off $cos;
delete $cos;
delete $cylinder[0];
return $duplicatedCrv[0];
}
any hint appreciated!!!
