Python Image Manipulation

Hi all!

Is there any included standar library (or any way) for manipulating images? ... open, save, crop, cut, etc..
I know PIL, but I want to share maya-python scripts with no extra module dependences

Not really. Maya api has some tools for this kind of stuff but youd be lookinga t ahuge deal of code.

Whats wrong with including the module?

Anyway seems a bit redundant to me but hey ive actually got photoshop and gimp running inside my maya. And any batching i can easily launch form within maya anyway.

So i dont really see what the downside is to doing this outside maya, its not that maya can use memory resident files anyway.

I've no problem using external libraries, is just for easy sharing.

I dont want make any massive-multiple-batch procs, I just want to CROP an image file to use in my "Character UI Maker" script, just with one click.

Now I use imagemagick to crop the file to make imagebuttons and rollOverEffect, make some color changes and compose a new file, here you can view a little example of how script work.

At 3'47'' you can view a .bat executing an imagemagick command to crop the image and generates de buttons images, etc.. etc..

Well maya sortof knows how to crop things. You can allways respan the image in file nodes anr dender out subimages. If you do thsi with maya hardware reder its very fast.

And offcoure imagemagic is shipped with maya. The name of the executable is just renamed.
