Q about converting reg maya file into script file

Hi, is there any way of converting a maya file into a .mel file. Or is there any way of accesing the entire script of what i have already done in another secession?

if you have the text of the entire script you can paste it into the script editor, highlight it, and mmb drag it to the shelf and create a button that will load everytime you open maya.

What does your script do anyway, so that I might have a better idea about what you are trying to do and what might be the best answer.

it is just my Maya Personal Learning Edition model. I want to move it into maya complete(which i also have access to, but not at my house) and i dont' feel like creating this thing all over. Where would the text file of the entire script be located?

Oh.. it doesn't quite work liek that.. i tis piossible that if you saved the all the actions reported in the script editor that you might (and that's a big if) you might beable to paste it back intothe program or another version and have it build the model for you. However it is possible to create a MEL script that might ebable to dissect you rmodle for you and create a list of actions to rebuild it but it would require some work. Is your model polys, Sub-D's or Nurbs?

it is all polys.

don't worry about it, i guess i will just remodel it back at school.. I just thought that there was a way to save all of the commands that were in the script editor that were used on that single file. Thanks for the replies anyway, i appreciate it.

Well, on the bright side you will become either better at modeling or better at mel because of this

You can but if you close the scene without copying and pasting them into a file they will be lost.
