Query Reference State

Does anyone know of a way to query the state of reference (loaded or unloaded)? Can't seem to figure this one out.

• yes i have tried to do it and i found no clean predetermined way to do it.
  i did however figure out some ways to do what amounts to the same thing:

on was : in the file that is being referenced in create a node or attribute that is locked and standardized and will not change out from under you.. then test for the existance of that node or attribute in the top level file, if its there, then the reference is loaded, if not its not loaded.

another is: look at the reference node structure and analize it with mel. it follows a pattern. one pattern is typical of the reference not be loaded and the other is typical of it being unloaded.

another is: get the edits applied to the file reference. store them. try to delete them. pretty sure if you can delete them the file is loaded, if not, then its not loaded (or somthing like that). if you just killed a bunch of work you did by deleting the edits, just reapply them.. because you did save them after all in a string array or somthing.

there are probobly others. but you are right, there should be a simple bit that indicates loadstate. and as ffar as i know, there is not one.
