Hi.. I'm very new at maya (previously a 3dmax user) and I'm running through some Gnomon DVDs. In the Digital Sets DVD the instructor uses a randKey mel script.
I downloaded it from this site and dropped it in my scripts folder but when I type "randKey" in the command line I get the error: Error: Cannot find procedure "randKey"
Since I'm a new user, I can't tell if this just doesn't work for maya 8 or if I've installed it wrong.
any help would be greatly appreciated.

None "mel scripter" advice here:
Make sure randKey.mel is in your scripts folder. Some folks use mel to source the script, but I simply restart Maya. Sometimes a script still wont work, in that case I open the .mel script in a word editor, then copy and paste all the text into the Maya script editor, then make a shelf button by selecting the text in the script editor and middle mouse dragging it to a shelf.
Being a windows user, I like to keep all my scripts in the general scripts folder one level above the version specific scripts folder. That way I know all my scripts are in the same place when I unstall an earlier version.
here is the randkey script ..
and copy this to ur c:\documnet and setting\user\my documnet\maya\8.0\scripts
and then restart maya and type now
