Just sharing that Maya finally has a way to smoothly load video files of any format onto a 3D plane in the viewport!
If you don’t want to deal with image sequences and conversions anymore, there’s now a plugin called Gizmify Media Plane. It can read any video file format directly (mp4, avi, mkv, mov, etc.) on to a plane. Good for reference, animatic, annotations… you name it.
Super fast cached playback! Can read the video file in Maya’s framerate (ex. 24fps) while the video itself is 30fps… and a bunch more features.
No need to export image sequences, no Quicktime needed, just load the video.
