Don't be angry.... It's just getting used to another package... we all go through at some point....
From what I understand in your detail is that you are using a dual split viewport. One viewport has got the schematic and the other viewport has your composite...
You might be able to solve your frustration by changing the way you work slightly.....
I would work with one viewport....... To quickly switch to the schematic use F12.......
When you're in the schematic and you would like to load a node into the viewport and reference monitor at the same time, tripple click on the node. The schematic will disappear and will be replaced by your composite. The controls will update and so will the reference monitor.
When you wish to go back to the schematic again, just hit f12.....
