Renaming attributes

I'm interested if there's some way to rename attribute I'v added to my channels ?

The best way that comes to my mind is to save the file in .ma (Ascii) and with notepad (or Wordpad if the file is to big) replace your attribute name with the new one.

Well, I can't find attribute nor rename attribute tags in my attribute editor..?? I have 2.5 and I could not find this command even in mel reference..
