Renaming In Outliner Hotkey

Im looking for a way to make a hotkey so I can traverse the outliner with arrow keys and press my hotkey so that it will put the outliner into "rename mode".

I get sick of traversing then having to use my mouse to double click the object I want to rename to put it into rename mode. You guys know of a way of puting the outliner into rename mode with mel? Be REALLY great if I could do this and speed up my workflow a lot. Thanks in advance!

I have Rename on F2 like in Windows Explorer.
But I use a custom renamer that also handles multiselection and prefixing / suffixing as well as replacing and of course better numbering.

does F2 just pull up cometRename or something like it so you have to type in the name there and then press the Rename button?

not exactly. CometRename sucked for my inaccessible expectations

I have a more simple renamer but I use a promptDialog that automatically has the name of the (first) selected object in its field and it can be kicked away with Esc and runned with Enter what is very nice. Furthermore the name is also selected if you run it.

contrary to the name its actually not final. There are still issues. If you spot some, just tell me. Will encourage me to fix.
I use it for years now and I'm quite satisfied with it. Feels much better than a custom window where (you say it) you'd have to press a certain button and the text is not selected..
