Render Fluids And Particles Together

hi everyone,

I've got a small problem rendering cloudy particles with fluids.
The particles opacity is driven by an expression, particleCloud as shader connected to particleSamplerInfo for transparency/life transparency.
it works fine if I render my particles alone, but if I render those on top of a fluid I see round shapes of the particles even if the opacityPP is close to 0 (<0.001)
Maya2008x64 extension2 on XPx64 SP2

any ideas?

I imagine the only solution will be to composite the two passes after rendering them seperately

On the fluid node try enabling volumeSamplesOverride and increasing the volumeSamples. This improves the integration between fluid and particle densities.

thanks Duncan for your tip but it doesn't really work.

In this quick test you can see how the emitter leaves the fluid on the end and how particles render inside and outside the fluid

Are you talking about the brighter area that kind of flickers behind the car?

Exactly! That is the wrong opacity. After they left the fluid container it renders normally as you can see in view last frames.
