Can anyone tell me if TIFF format supports z-depth channels. I rendered and im not sure if the 3d fog tool is working or not in after effects.
yeah, i'd like to know this one too. it seems strange that after effects can import a maya scene, and then maya can't render depth in any of the formats that after effects supports for depth, i.e. rla, eiu, etc.
maya can render depth to rla... only after effects dont let you view this very well not amaya issue a after effects thing... TIFF cant use z buffered data. But you can do a 16 but or 8 bit thiff with z buffer info but its not the same.
That is correct, Joojaa.
I render my images to RLA and import them in AE: they work both with Extract 3D channel and DOF Effects. The trick in Maya appears to be the clip plane setting: the smaller the interval the better control you get. Also, default values for the above mentioned effects in AE are out of range, almost: try testing them in the 0-1 range...
i'm using a mac and i don't have the option to save as a rla, do i have to enable a plug-in?
Oops! That I do not know...Sorry
