Rendering Aborted

Hi.
When I try to "Render the current frame" it says in the message box "Error: An error has occured. Rendering aborted"
Then in the detailed message thingy it says:
"Warning: Image file cannot be output. Please check your file permissions and ensure
that the current project has an images directory."

Here is what the entire thing has to say:

Before going further, did you checked the file permissions and ensure that the current project has an images directory ? (after all it's what Maya is asking you )
Which means do you have a proper project with subfolders like "scenes" and "images" , with the scene you want to render into the scenes folder ...
If not, you have to create (or set) your current project using the file|project menu.
BTW Maya is supposed to have a project by default (under Documents and Settings/~username/My documents/Maya/projects) , used when no other project is set. Maybe this folder is in read-only mode ?

Sorry if you knew and checked all that already but I had to ask to be sure ....
