Hi,
I am trying to render the camera entering the surface of an ocean (in Maya 8.5 with Mental Ray as my renderer). This of course produces an occlusion of the inner depth of the ocean body, but that is the effect I am looking for. I want the "broken shards of polygons" which are caused by the occlusion.
However, mental ray is throwing up a warning "// Warning: (Mayatomr.Scene) : current shadow mode does not support shadow segments, but the scene contains volume, particle, or fluid nodes which may render wrong shadows without it // "
and not letting me batch render.
How can I get around this? I realize part of the problem is that no light is getting to this lower level...
Is it still possible? Is it possible to fake it?
Thanks so much, I realize it may be an odd request to explore the possibilities of rendering occluded inner surfaces, but I'm doing some tests and this is a new area of maya work for me, so I'm a little perplexed.
