ok...i have this guy who has a mustache, beard, and eyebrows made from paint effects. the quality of the paint effects stuff tends to vary extremely due to how far away the character is. when up close, it looks wonderful. when he is far away, the pfx hair looks like a black mess.
i have the fake shadows turned off. the hair is supposed to be light gray...but just looks horrible when far away.
the only way i've been able to slightly fix this is by adjusting the incandescance parameter....which only works as long as the character remains far away.
can somebody please give me some tips/ideas/thoughts on how to get these pfx hairs to render out nice no matter how far or close the character is from the camera?
