Ahh but see 95% of all people on the globe really need a decent 101 computer basics course.
Basically because the basics aren't taught out anymore (when they are most people take your view of the world, even tough they'd really benefit). Thing is Ive even seen people with masters degree in computing not know how to manage folders. NOW thats insane. As is the fact that most people don't use word processing as its supposed to be used (and thus make extra work every day).
This is the main reason microsoft was planning to ditch the entire notion of folders, as to accommodate to how people use or in this cas how they dont use their computers.
Well, yes if you delete it then you cant get the old settings back, in case that wasn't the problem (ok so you can dig itr out of the trashcan but thing is if your hd space is low it gets emptied on the fly so don't trust that), now if you just rename it you can always switch back.
Thing is generally speaking maya users live and die by their settings so the nightmare of me is that i loose my settings and customizations. Because they represent 7 worth of accumulated knowledge and advantage in production speed, if i ever lost it id need to rebuild that and id estimate itd take about 3 months.
