Hey,
at the moment i am on my final year at uni doin 3D animation, but for the past cuple of years on my course ive been doing a bit of everything like an all rounder kinda thing for every project i do at uni, for example working on from the modelling, rigging and animation! i use MAYA for all of my projects.
Now that i am on my final year i am a bit confused on which career path i am going to take in the 3D world because i only know a bit of modelling, rigging and animation and i would like to focus on one area only without having the hassle to do everything and i wanna do this after i graduate bcuz it will give me the time to prepare myself a decent portofolio and bcuz wen u r at uni u work alone and u av to do it all urself and as always ders the deadlines.
Im considerin to take the rigger role because i enjoy doing it and if i keep at it I know i will get better at it but at the moment i only know the basics. Anyway want i want to know is how much is the "RIGGER" role in the CG WORLD industry that are needed? Is there a shortage? Many people do it? I keep hearin things like in the Games Industry theres a shortage of riggers? is that right? or theres already full of riggers out there?
Any relevant statistcs information u cud say wud be greatful and if ur a rigger what is it like to be one? anything at all? I just want to know becz if ders too many riggers out there, i might as well concentrete on modelling bcuz im pretty gud at it but then again il be the same as everyone else's.
thanks
dennis
