Rigging A Slinky Ik Spline

I created this slinky that i have rigged with a IK Spline. to get the slinky to stretch i add an attribute to the control curve that changes the y translate of the joints. So far the setup for the stretch is working out ok, but i was hopping that some one mite have a better idea then what I'm doing.

What I want to know is if it is possible to have the slinky stretch just by moving the control curve. If possible how can i do it.

I have figured out how to do it, the answer was so simple i feel stupid for asking. The only thing is i am having a weird problem playing the animation in maya. For some strange reason the stretching of the slinky doesn't always update in playback. has any body ever had this problem.

Yes, i use expressions to control the stretch.

Well then are they REALLY expressions or do you use mel inside your expressions (you should not, because using gettar and setattr, xform etc circumnavigate the wohole operating mechanism of the network).

See expression language is NOT equal o mel.

So if your going t use expressions then your really going to need to know how maya nodes are supposed to operate, and all problems you get is really up to you knowing its a bad idea.

You help me in another post, it was the same problem. I built the rig of an older version and that gave me a simulation update problem.
