Rigging an origami paper butterfly

I been trying to rig a poly plane to fold itself into a butterfly and fly away. I've been using clusters and locators to group cv's to create the animated folds. This seems to work if the geometry is stationary once I move the geometry the cluster handles stay in their original location. This is making it very difficult to continue. Is there a way to keep the cluster handles on the geometry? Or is there a better way to rig this animation?

Is there any reason for not using Joints? You'd then be able to create a basic heirarchy which would be a lot easier to lift off the table and fly. Alternatively, if your animation in nearly finished, Group your clusters and move the group to get the butterfly to fly away.

You know, I haven't really thought of using joints... I'm gonna give it a shot and see If I have better results. Grouping the clusters didn't work for me. I'll let you know how I make out! Thanks for the response. I really appreciate it!!!

Well grouping the clusters would work provided the mesh is not in the same groip and you lock of the objects translate. Just like joints. Wich brings to the point joits are just clusters but they set up dy default in a way that makes the difference.
