Hey guys,
I am trying to figure out how to use files with z depth in them in After Effects and I have rendered a RLA file from Maya, I have check the .RLA in fcheck and the depth channel def. is there. I have on box close to the camera and another box further away, closest box bright the box in the depth is darker in the depth channel of course.
I import the file to After Effects, in a regular manner file/import, and I guess the alpha, I followed some tutorial I found online. I put the rla footage in a new comp, set the layer to a 3d layer, used 3d channel/depth of field, but that just blurs the entire layer instead of a certain area of the depth. Same thing if I try depth choke, at a certain depth the entire layer disappears. I even put a camera on top of my 3d layer, nothing seems to work.
Does anyone know what I am doing wrong or have any ideas? I have also tried a few different file formats, IFF etc.
Thanks in advance, fellas!
