Running Maya on a laptop

Can anyone recommend good laptops to run Maya? A friend suggested Dell and Alienware laptops. I am concerned about the processors. Are the Intel M processors as powerful as a Pentium III? Which laptop graphic cards are good?

look for one with mobile Quadro chipset. they will work for Maya.

going through the same stage of selecting a laptop. I have 3 options and still confused where to go. Dell Gen2, Voodoo Envy (can`t find enough reviews on it) and Alienware .. yet for image quality many ppl think Sony Vaio with XBRITE has the best image but not serious performance for 3d and graphic artists.

will appreciate you comments if you have any experience with these notebooks or recommend something ..

I'm using a Sager 9860 with the Geforce 6800 and it works fine. I don't see any reason to spend a few hundred more for a Quadro unless you're doing some real hardcore 3D work. The 9880 is out now with the 6800 Ultra. It's pretty much the same as the XPS2, just has a Pentium 4 instead of the M. And I trust the quality of Sager more than Dell. The Alienware MJ12m and the Voodoo Envy 703 are the exact same base as the Sager and cost a lot more for the name.
