So I have a scene in max, very simple and un-tessellated (as seen in the first picture below). Using the Render Scene Dialog I can render the light on my object and it is applied as vertex colors on my geometry. As you can see in the second image below, not just does it apply the vertex coloring, it also modifies the verts and highly tessellates my object as needed to produce a smooth shadow with vert coloring.
My question is how do I get back or save the vertex and color solution that the Render Scene Dialog -> Advanced Lighting window produced? Soon as I try and do anything with the geometry, it seems to just clear the data, I loose the vert color and tessellation it does. Any ideas?
