Hi,
I am modelling an entire forest which consists of lot of trees.I have modelled a single leaf but I am not sure how to scatter the leaves.3dmax people have "foliage" which randamly places bunches of leaves. How do we do that in Maya? Is there any scripts for doing that or any plugin available??Please..Please..help!!!

You have two solutions : one, you use paint FX to make those leaves, but it might involve rendering problems. Two, you make your tree to generate particles from its vertices, then use the particle replacer to have leaves from lo-def polys or nurbs, the faster is to have a single square with a leaf texture on it. Hope this helps.

do you mean snap particles to vertices? or actually generate particles from actual vertices, if so, how do you do this?
I'm not a great specialist with particles, but what i know to work well is to select some of the vertices of the model, then declare those vertices to be particle emiters (actually all the bunch of vertices will be considered as ONE emitter). Another simple solution is to have a quick modeled tree in low poly or NURBS (which is much better for particles, as you can map the particles values), turn primary visibility off, and use it for generating the particles you need. After that, it's just a question of settings to have the particles to stick to the branches ... I reckon it might be heavy if a great amount of leaves is needed, but it can be also recomposited if the leaves are rendered separately, with the tree model rendered as black hole.
hi,
i selected some vertices and made them particle emiters, but how can i make that he is using the leafes
or flood with paint objects artisan brush.
then i must create a brush out of my modeled poly flower. but don
no artisan works with real gemoetry! only realrequirement is to have nonoverlapping uxs on the sprouting object.
i am not pro, im a newb. i only want to know how to create a brush out of my object or how to use the particles for scattering the leafs. i know how to creat a particle field but i don
Making an object into a Soft Body generates one particle for every vertex. You could then make them render as sprites.I don't know if that works for you.gl.
