Script Not Working

Hi all,

I am new to mel. Trying to understand it out.

Below code doesn't result any thing, I don't why?

This code trying to create a planar projection on selected geometry. I want to have an icon. Maya default Icon doesn't work. Every time one has to go to menu option for projections.

pls help out.

It's ` (the key above Tab) not ' (the key next to Enter).
Plus remove the comment symbols // on the 7th line or else the $dagnode variable isn't declared and when executed gives an error.

I got this for mapping best fit for everything selected:

    }
}
maps even selected faces and whole polyobjects in one go, but strangely it maps faces different if you got polyobjs in selection or only the faces...

My next assignment is to make icon for Spherical mapping and Cylindrical mapping. Lets see how things goes.

Alternatively, you could just use this:

getFaces;
polyProjection -ch 0 -type Planar -sf 1 -kir -ibd 1 -md b;

which is mush shorter and simpler...

naah.. its not really the same. Mine maps every selected object for itself and keeps the original selection.
