Hi - first post, yay!
This has been bugging me for some time now, I hope I did not overlook the answer in another thread. So far the web said 'no', maybe somebody knows the answer:
Is it possible to open up several tear-off menus via a script like it is possible with regular panels?
For workflow reasons I would like to create several custom layouts, for example when animating I would like to close all open panels/windows and then build/arrange a graph editor window, blend shapes etc. and additionally a couple of torn off menu windows like Skeleton, Skin or Deform. Panels are no problem, but the menus.
Yes, I know there are shelves and hotkeys
-- Yes, I know there is the wonderful hotbox which I love very much. But for my workflow it would be best to have the appropriate windows open to begin with, well layouted. At the moment I am building the layout manually every time - would be a great timesaver.
I found out the main menus are being defined in misc. mel files lying around and are built when you click them - so there must (?) be a way of opening and tearing them off via script, right?
Hopefully this is the right subforum also -- my latest guess was that the solution might be found in python or even power shell which I have used in scripts before but since I am no programmer I admit I am a little lost here.
Thank you for your ideas! Even a final 'no, doesn't work at all' would help so I could stop worrying about this...
