Shake "filein", Errors Loading All Media

I am a complete newbie to Shake, but I have been working in After Effects and Cinema 4D professionally for 3 years now. My question may be simple to others so I apologize if this is a simple workaround but I cannot find answers anywhere, including apple support.

So I have installed Apple Shake 4.1 and I am also running the entire FCP Studio UB 5.1. Shake installs fine and starts up fine. When I got to "FileIn" and try to load the Tutorial_Media from the location the manual tells me to, I find the media and than go to load it via "FileIn". But I cannot load anything in at all, the console keeps telling me one of these errors:

"error: //Think media edit bay
00012/Users/bgmediaeditbay2/nreal/Tutorial_Media/Tutorial_02/images/little_guys/mitosis.1.tif: No such file or directory "

Basically I get the "No such file or directory" no matter what I try to load, and I know the locations are correct. I have already repaired permissions under root, I verified disk (no repairs needed), reinstalled Shake 2x, and nothing works for me, I am going nuts. Especially when apple seemed liek I was asking a question with no answer. I bought this software thinking it was a great tool to learn, now I am wondering how much money I am going to lose in time due to troubleshooting.

Anyhelp would be greatly appreciated.

dont know if this solves your problem, but having such a long harddisk name with a lot of spaces sound like a bad idea to me.. i'd try something shorter and use only characters and letters and see if that helps.

What I find odd in your path name is that no machine appears first, before your hard drive. By default shake has its UNC (Universal Naming Convention) set to "ON', so you should have something like this :

//machine name/volume name/path/

Did you turn off UNC ?

Does "Drag&Drop" work in Shake. Just drag the media file in the node section of Shake.
If it doesn't work, try another HD name.

I agree with Zem. Sometimes Shake is pretty stubborn...
try saving the files to your desktop.

This is one of the issues with Shake: when I move the project to another hard disk/computer i have to relocate all the source files...
IS THERE A WAY TO AVOID THIS ... maybe turning off the UNC as ridindave2 says?
Would it be inconvenient?
(and how to do it, if it was a good idea)

I'm working on a project of mine at both the company's and my home computers, and it's getting pretty messy when i swap from one computer to the other.
