Yes but that is for tasks specifically written for the Altivec engine (not everything is, and I don't think much of shake is). Stuff like compression really sees a nice benefit from vectorizing code. These G5's are the last of their kind in a mac, so in another year, it doesn't matter what the test number say because the intel ones will still be faster. The g5 has been at a standstill for the last 2 years anyways because IBM can't deliver. The future is Intel with osx.
