yes but for one 2000$ you get 1 maya license which gives you 4 mr licenses. So if you happen to have a university full of unused coputers about 300 in all free every night its still. (ive been in this situation, so even using shake for comp lost in speed for 300 nodes of very slow maya software comp use. Well i used to work for the university and i could have boosted to 900 systems but i dint want to opush my bosses nerves.) Still not much compared to the power we have nowdaysas each todays computer is worth 6 of those. But still, fiber optics nas just rules.

one frame with maya software per 0.03 frames versus 0.5 fremes per sec. So the speed depends on additional parameters tha just raw speed. Offcourse fluids render even faster on prman, than on mr.

PS: i believe in showing theres NO right answers in practical computing. slower can be faster it all depends on your conditions.
