Is there a tool in Maya that works like shrinkwrap in Softimage?
That can be done by shrinking a softbody object around a target object with a radial field, though with nurbs you are not limited to topologically identical objects as blendshape targets.

I'm not so sure how the SoftImage's ShrinkWrap tool work, but I believe you might use Maya Cloth to shrink and wrap around your collision object. Do the T-Shirt and pants tutorials, they show how to make baggy clothes shrink to the skin.
