Simple start and end emitter/particle problem

I have a 100 frame animation. I would like to start emitter at frame 50 and end it at frame 60. I can start emitter at frame 50 using the Start Frame attrib, cannot figure out how to turn emitter off at frame 60. Have looked high and low on internet and Maya docs, can't find answer. Can anyone suggest solution? Using Maya 4.0. Thanks in advance.

I would key the rate on the emitter. Key the rate to 0 on frame 49, key it to whatever you want the rate to be at frame 50, key it at the same rate at 59, then key it back to 0 at frame 60.
