Hey there! Im going to graduate from the Art Institute in six months or so, my focus being rigging in maya. My question for you guys, is what other skills should I focus on besides rigging? Its the only thing Im really competent with, plus a little bit of modeling, texturing, and animation. I really love rigging more than anything, but I realize that to get a decent job Ill need other skills besides that. Ive been looking into MEL scripting, and have been going through the gnomon workshop DVDs on my own time, but Im not a super programmer, and definitely dont want to do C++.
I wouldnt mind doing something with film, but I really like working with games as well.
Im trying to decide what would be best career-wise. So, should I learn cloth and hair simulations, MEL, renderman? Or should I focus on modeling and texturing? Or even just concentrate on my rigging?
Id like your opinions on this, especially from anyone with work experience!!! Im still taking classes and working on side projects, so realistically I think one more focus is all I have time to get really good at.
