nCloth a pain in the arse to use in this circumstance, so I used Soft Bodies to simulate cloth. The problem is that it doesnt collide with anything in the scene.
Things I did to the geometry to make it act like cloth: created the soft body, painted weights on it, added springs, added gravity field, made it affect the geometry.
The thing is, its strips of cloth, and its going through a hollow object open at both sides, and when the cloth drops, the middle goes right through the bottom of the hollow object, and then swings backwards and comes to rest inside the character. I tried making everything it touched into a Passive Rigid, but as I expected, that didnt work. Anybody know what you have to do to make the soft bodies collide with the rest of the geometry?
