Bad points, the watermark on the renderings and you cannot save projects. Watermark is fair enough, but not being able to save a project???

i wonder if all the scripting code gets logged, if you you could rebuild the scene by saving all the srcipt code.

To what end? If you take your code and run it on a commercial version, you'll recreate the scene.... then what? If you already have access to a commercial version, why in the world would you need the demo?

this will be perfect for learning at our institute, one of our main problems is students create things while they are learning. eg simple things take a long time to construct. as a result the attach alot of value to early parti's and tests and when it comes to critical editing they are reluctant to throw away early (poor) work or rework early work.

if we can open scenes at home experimentation for experimentations sake is a must.... (as nothing is saved)

Vow, both Maya, Softimage have free versions now.

Oh well, what can I say? It's a good time to learn 3d animation. Maybe the Best Animated Feature just added to the Oscar Academy Award this year is no coincidence.

can you copy your script window, save it out and then paste it back when you open XSI experience again?

Wonder if theres a way to save stuff from the clipboard too as a way to save files.

Students working on the side could get pretty frustrated without being able to take something back to school other than the watermarked output and no chance of going back to rework the "tests", unless it has its own save format like PLE.

there are a couple of limitations obviously since it's free. two of those limitations are that scripting is disabled and you cannot save your work, the third being a watermark on any rendering. so no, you will not be able to copy your data from the scripting window and paste it back in later. you can however load scenes created with any commercial version of XSI. We also took the time to find the most irritating font, rotate it and add a coffeespill...er i mean watermark to each viewport reminding you that this is not a commercial version.... just kidding.
if you put the training cd in you will have to suffer through several hours of my equally annoying voice so i dont know which is worse

ive just started recording training videos myself (not in xsi, as ive just begun learning it). Qute an eye (ear) opener, even programs i know backwards, still have ums and er's all through them.

I really appreachiate the quality of the sllick consice presentations you guys have assembled. even if that gastly accent makes me nausious.

looking foward to siggraph though, ive seen training sessions etc at previous years siggraph, whats in store this year at the xsi booth?
