SPM Host?

Hey, I just installed XSI 2.0, but it's asking me for something called an SPM Host. I skipped it, but it won't let me run the program without an SPM Host defined. What do I do? I have no idea what an SPM Host is.

Dude, the SPM is the license server software. The SPM host is the name of your machine. You should read the booklet that comes with XSI (the one about licensing) before installing it.

You can't run the XSI without the server license (SPM). The server license is a separate software that you install, and it holds the license of XSI. When you launch XSI, the license server must be running, otherwise XSI won't launch.

To install it, read the licensing manual.

Finally, you can find the name of your machine by going on the desktop, right-click on My Comptuer, choose Properties, Network Identification tab. What is typed next to Full computer name is the name of your machine.

Call or email Softimage tech support (support@softimage.com). All XSI licenses include maintenance to get you up and running with installation issues at no extra cost.

Make sure you have your dongle ID handy too.
